Community

We aim to consider our impact on society and the environment in the following ways:

 

• We work with a roster of local independent guides, drivers, and tour operators to provide our guests with a more authentic Rio de Janeiro experience.

 

• We support, in the form of a monthly contribution, the project Favela Brass located in the nearby favela of Pereirão, which aims to bring music education to local children. 

 

• We limit the impact on the environment through recycling, composting, solar-heated  water, sensor lights and eco-friendly policies on laundry (including sun-drying)  and not using wasteful individual shampoo/soaps. We ask guests to participate by turning off  lights, fans and a/c when not in use.

 

• We support, in the form of an annual contribution and exchange of services, the  reforestation project at REGUA, 2 hours outside of Rio. An incredible transformation of pasture land into an area of amazing natural beauty and wildlife in only 8 years.

 

•  All tips from our guests go directly to our hardworking staff, and are much appreciated by them and their families.
